Queensland: Salisbury factory fire now being investigated as crime scene

An early morning fire that burned uncontrollably for hours in an automotive factory has now been declared a crime scene.

Emergency services rushed to a structure fire in Salisbury, about 11km south of Brisbane, about 4.20am Monday.

Ten trucks from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) responded to the blaze which was burning in a contained, 50x50m factory complex.

Paramedics arrived on the scene at 4.27am, but no injuries were reported.

A QFES spokesperson told NCA NewsWire investigators were unable to complete a full search of the property due to significant structural damage, with several compartments “totally destroyed”.

They said nine fire trucks were still on the scene, with the fire controlled as of 10.30am local time.

Queensland Police have declared the factory a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Footage of the blaze shows firefighters hosing down the building from a large crane.

Police said Evans Road between Toohey Road / Orange Grove Road and Tarragindi Road were closed and advise motorists to use alternative routes.
